History
“Magalhães & Associados, Internacional”, founded in 1999, embodies the career maturity of its founder, Luiz Claudio de Magalhães, who, in that time, had already accumulated 21 years of experience in the Intellectual Property sector as an expert from the INPI – Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (the governmental Patent Office in Brazil). Among the several positions and functions performed at the Institute, also as a patent examiner, his transference to Minas Gerais, in 1986, with the mission of spreading the need of forming an Industrial Property Culture through the industrial park in the aforesaid state is outstanding. In 1997 he was invited by the CEO of INPI, due to his performance, to be one of the coordinators of the INPI Advanced Post Implementation in Brazil.
An architect (Gama Filho, RJ, 1977), Postgraduate in Civil Engineering (UFRJ, 1978), he entered the INPI through a contest in 1978, was appointed to take the Postgraduation course (1978/1979) at the WIPO – World Intellectual Property Organization – an organ of the UN – the United Nations, due to the Brazilian Government efforts in trying to insert the country into the international Knowledge Era scenery.
Magalhães’ professional experience gives him the title of a notorious expert.
He left the government in 1999 to dedicate his time to the private initiative in the area of his specialty.
